Creative Zen V Plus - Review
07/14 2007 | Creative MP3 PlayersToday we will take a look at one of Creative's high capacity players, the Creative Zen V Plus. The difference between Creative Zen V and Creative Zen V Plus is the added FM radio and video playback. If you are not going to use the FM radio or video playback features, Creative Zen V is a good alternative.
Zen V Plus looks and feels good. It is lightweight and it is one of those gadgets you want to hold it even though you are not using it. It has a glossy black surface and comes in three colours related to the capacity, orange, green and blue (1GB, 2GB and 4GB). The only difference is the capacity.
Manufacturer: Creative
Player type: Flash MP3 player
Capacity: 1GB, 2GB and 4GB
Audio formats: MP3, WMA, WAV
Battery life: 17 hours
The display has a great viewing angle and is scratch-resistant. The Zen Vision M gets scratches easily but a new coating makes Zen V Plus more durable. The included earbuds are decent but if you want to experience the full potential we recommend using a pair of high quality phones.
Creative's Zen V Plus offers way more features than the iPod Nano.
Pros: The OLED display has a good viewing angle. Line-in and voice recording, play list management features, contacts database and a calendar. The audio quality is very good. Battery life is great too.
Cons: The OLED screen could be better and is not suitable for watching video for long periods of time. The joystick sometimes makes it difficult to navigate and feels a little cheap. The photo and video playback are not particularly impressive.
Bottom line: Overall, the Creative Zen V Plus is a great MP3 player. It is a reasonably priced device with recording features and excellent sound quality. It has a very intuitive interface and can play music non-stop 17 hours.
