SanDisk Sansa e260 - Review
03/15 2007 | SanDisk MP3 PlayersWhat really makes the SanDisk Sansa e260 worth taking an extra look at is the price compared to the features you get. It is a knock out.
One of the first things you notice when you plug in the USB cable to transfer your favourite movie clips, is how easy it is. The software that comes with SanDisk Sansa e260 supports AVI, MOV, WMV, ASF, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and VOB.
Player type: Flash MP3 player
Audio formats: MP3, WMA, WAV
Battery life: 19 hours
The player it self use MOV but converts the files fast. The playback is smooth even though it plays at 15 fps. The MP3 player has an expansion slot (microSD) - you can add extra memory and it works flawless.
The interface is good looking and makes it easy to find what you need. The MP3 player has a stylish design and is made of scratch-resistant plastic. The LCD screen is sharp but the viewing angle could be better. The player's buttons can be tough to get at if you have large fingers.
The audio quality is like the iPod Nano (great) and is has a good bass performance. The earbuds that the MP3 player has bundled is disappointing. To get the best experience we recommend buying a new set of headphones.
The equalizer presets are not impressive but a firmware upgrade adds a custom equalizer. The SanDisk e260 can play audio for 19 hours straight - video files 5 hours.
Pros: removable battery, easy to use, memory expansion slot, strong FM tuner, FM recording, well-designed interface, voice recording, drag and drop music directly to the player
Cons: play lists features could be better, the expansion slot can not be used with video or photo files
Bottom line: The SanDisk Sansa e260 has a lot of features, looks good and is easy to use. The sound quality is great costs half the price of its competitors.
